Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Sorry no steps to reproduce.
Issue occured out of a sudden. Whole screen blinked. Disappeared, came back about 5 times. Background and launcher were displayed when it came back.
No keys, mouse worked, had to restart with power button. MagicSysRq even didn't work.
Just worked on some files. Apps which have been open before the issue occured: zeitgeist, CCSM, Nautilus, Gimp, Firefox, Gedit.

Still no idea what the trigger could be, only casual usage of different apps.

As for the second crash forgot to mention I let the screen blink only two or three times and survived with alt+sysrq+k. After login everything was normal again. As for today I've tried to trigger the behaviour open lots of apps fast, clicked on launcher multiple times and move launchers back and forth, no crash yet.
I wonder if there is a certain time range when screen starts blinking. Sensors also don't show any significant change (screenshot).
Unable to make a screenshot during screen blinks between black and desktop, it just displays the desktop few seconds (launcher and background), compiz obviously disabled, no cube or cube cap visible (cube is set transparent).
Also I'd like to add regression tag since the the issue never happened with Maverick or any other version since Edgy. Graphic card is the same as in Maverick.

I am having the same problem after upgrading to 11.04. I have a ATI Radeon™ HD 4890 card that gave no problems under Vista or Ubuntu 10.10.

Occasionally at startup I get this error, rebooting generally fixes the issue.
