Is the issue specific to the sd card being used? (that is, the problem happens with other sd cards, or with just only with Kingston 2GB MicroSD Flash Card)

Would be good to test also with maverick kernel from bug 730820 just as a sanity check, but the fix there is on natty kernel checking the source, so I expect this to be a new issue.

Something similar is happening to me as well - 3 different SDHC cards (kingston and sandisk) on an Acer Aspire 5742. I can mount them fine if I use an external USB card reader.

The disk utility shows them, but they attempt to mount to /

This is all that shows up in dmesg on card insertion:
 00:00:00:00:00:00
[ 361.991210] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] 31457280 512-byte logical blocks: (16.1 GB/15.0 GiB)
[ 361.993322] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] No Caching mode page present
[ 361.993329] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through
[ 361.996583] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] No Caching mode page present
[ 361.996590] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through
[ 361.997438] sdc: sdc1

When I first upgraded to 11.04 beta (from alpha), the card reader worked. It also worked on 10.10.

MBybee, you have a different issue (probably an userspace one judging by your dmesg snippet, which is fine), as you don't have these errors reported here:

[ 1444.010900] mmc0: error -123 whilst initialising SD card
[ 1446.826514] mmc0: new SD card at address 1234

[ 1446.959734] mmcblk0: retrying using single block read
[ 1446.961019] mmcblk0: error -110 sending status command
[ 1446.961022] mmcblk0: error -84 transferring data, sector 391, nr 8, card status 0x0
[ 1446.961024] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 391

If you still have the problems on latest natty, you should file a new bug report.

Definitely still having issues with it even after updating everything this morning - not really seeing much else worth reporting in the logs, so I'll just have to chalk it up to Beta Blues.

Updated to the latest packages, my 2 Gb Kingston card gives the same error. However, using a different Kingston 1Gb card it is able to be successfully auto-mounted.

Using an identical kingston 2gb sd card, I was able to auto-mount the card. Looks like the sd adapter on one of them was bad.

Similiar problem here. I have Dell XPS, and Kingston 2GB card and GoodRam 4GB card. Neither of them works on my natty. To access them I have to boot windows or use netbook (with Meego installed).
