Bug Description

Binary package hint: checkbox

I tryed to run the test system application but I always hangs itself up some way. I do not know the reason why I get only one bug reported. 3nd time I get the screen it is gathering information and then continues to do that for ever. First time it gave me some options to test and by clicking the next box it crashed, second time it just did not come up.

This crash has the same stack trace characteristics as bug #404989. However, the latter was already fixed in an earlier package version than the one in this report. This might be a regression or because the problem is in a dependent package.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

From your description it would appear that the "backend" component of checkbox is not running, that's why the graphical interface part stays there "forever" trying to collect information from the "backend" which never responds. There is a fix for this problem in the development version of checkbox, but I'd like to verify that this problem is exactly what you have before moving further.

Could you please indicate the exact steps you followed to get this problem to happen, from the moment you open the System Testing application? I'm particularly interested in the dialog box that asks you to "Enter your password to perform administrative tasks" - if you fail to enter your password correctly, or "cancel" that dialog, the backend won't start and Checkbox will stall forever.

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Thanks!

Hi, i have now tested my Nokia booklet 3G again with system testing, it asks my admin password correctly and then continues. I have sended a new report to launchpac.net.

The broblem seems to be as early mentioneid that the display size is not regonized, it should be 1024x600 but ill only get 800x600.
-i have not tried to haslle with xorg config files, but can you give a tip how to check driver and display info from console:

with sudo lspci | grep -i vga i get:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation System Controller Hub (SCH Poulsbo) Graphics Controller (rev 07)

On graphical user interface monitor type is unknown
