SRU JUSTFICATION
=================

IMPACT
=======
Camera hotkeys on Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 11/13/14/15 and Thinkpad X100e are not functional.

FIX
===
The upstream patch to thinkpad-acpi adds support for model-specific keymaps.

TESTING
=======
This series of patches were tested on Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 11, and ThinkPad x100e. Although interpretation of the hot key is up to the application, with cheese the hot key will 1.video mode - take a photo 2.camera mode, start and stop recording. Skype and xawtv don't handle events from this hot key.

I tested the kernel from comment #2 on a ThinkPad Edge 13. With this kernel, cheese works as described in comment #1.

Accepted linux into maverick-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed' to 'verification-done'.

If verification is not done by one week from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

The above kernel was verified on ThinkPad Edge 11. and Edge 14.

- installed kernel from the above link.
- modprobe thinkpad_acpi module
- start cheese
  The camera hotkey has the following effect:
  * in camera mode, it takes snapshots
  * in video mode it starts and stops recording.

I confirmed the proposed kernel enables the camera hotkey on the x100e. I tested in cheese, which now functions as described in comment #1.
