Bug Description

I'm trying to register my gpg key:

pub 1024D/C62AC3F4 2005-06-28 Ian Jackson (Canonical) <email address hidden>
     Key fingerprint = 5654 89CF 6F04 4556 3DEC 4B54 D394 138A C62A C3F4
uid Ian Jackson (Canonical) <email address hidden>
uid Ian Jackson (Canonical) <email address hidden>
sub 1024g/264381D8 2005-06-28

I entered it in Key Fingerprint in https://launchpad.net/people/ian-davenant/+editgpgkeys and Malone sent me an email. I saved the encrypted email to a file and:

On etch:
-anarres:mail> gpg t.asc
gpg: CRC error; 963A33 - DC3963
-anarres:mail>

On woody:
-davenant:~/mail> gpg t.asc
gpg: CRC error; 963a33 - dc3963
gpg: packet(5) with unknown version 149
-davenant:~/mail>

This is quite unusual -- I don't think I've ever seen or heard of this problem before (there are enough -- other -- gpg issues :). Can you reproduce this -- i.e. resubmitting the key and checking the message you receive?

Got exactly the same problem:

   florin@hermes$ gpg msg
   gpg: CRC error; 920BEA - DC3920

I am trying to decode using gpg 1.4.2 on a Debian machine (gnupg 1.4.2-2).

Florin, Ian: could you attach the file to the bug so we can inspect what was corrupted? Thanks.

Cristian,

Funny enough, the launchpad challenge was my oldest e-mail in my inbox. I have tried it now and it worked. The same Debian machine, just the version is now 1.4.5-1 .

Thanks,
florin

Ian: I notice that you've managed to register the key you mention in the initial message since filing the bug. Did you work out what the problem was?

No, I'm afraid not. But I suspect that whatever the problem was has
been fixed either by an LP or GPG update.

Ian.
