I can confirm that bzr-notify crashes in intrepid with the stacktrace indicating that the module pynotify cannot be imported.

The package bzr-gtk does not depend on python-notify, but needs this package in order to have the python module pynotify available.

This bug was fixed in the package bzr-gtk - 0.95.0-1ubuntu6

bzr-gtk (0.95.0-1ubuntu6) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Add Depends: python-notify, as this is used by the bzr-notify script.

confirmed. With python-notify installed the problem goes away.
