I only did the 24px size. It also has a barely noticeable jitter due to
inkscape messing up the alignment, and because I think the logo isn't a
perfect circle, so I need to poke at re-doing that size as well as
finishing the others. But it's a lower priority since we've got the 24px
version, and there are higher priority bugs to deal with right now.

I don't know if you are interested but I made a tray icon based on the Ubuntu One favicon.
I attached the images and a quick animation.

ubuntu logo "U1" should be tango icon style, it is horrible and one only dimension, it should have at least two dimensions

I'm not sure why Henrik changed the title to "Redo" but the currently drawn icon does need some fixes, as there is a slight jitter. The bug is open because the other sizes also need to be drawn in the SVG, as we only have the 24px version right now. I don't think we need to redraw them with a different metaphor than we currently have. Everyone loves the current icon, it just needs a little tweaking, and more sizes.

Sebastián Porta: Thanks for poking at that icon! That icon you made looks neat :)

The current fav.ico is actually just a temporary thing I threw together. Whenever we have our next rollout, this will change to be like the icon that goes into your notification area, and I agree with Rodney that this is the right sort of icon we should have.

So the current icon needs tweaking (like Rodney said) and more sizes (again, Rodney wins here :)

Thanks, Joshua and Rodney for the explanation.
One question, it would be possible to change the icon depending on the theme?
I asking this, not because I don't like the current icon (I actually really like the icon and the metaphor) but because maybe it won't fit with other themes.

Hi Sebastian. Yes, the icons are all themable, following the
recommendations from the Icon Theme spec and the Icon Naming spec on
freedesktop.org, as well as some recommendations I also made a couple
years ago, for installing themeable app-specific icons.

Is there a way to turn the animation off? I'm used to understand that when something is moving in the notification area it requires my attention, but an animated icon when there is nothing I'm supposed to do is just annoying... Or at least keep an option to change the icon to something static...

The notafication wont be there in the final version anyway, so I think this bug can be closed?

The applet as-is will be going away soon, so this is a won't fix.
