Bug Description

since a few days my desktop shows the two horizontal black stripes until the icons are drawn on the desktop. These stripes mark the upper and lower end of the login box, and once the login box has disappeared, these stripes remainin on the screen.

This is on an Acer Aspire One 110 netbook with 1024x600 screen.

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

That's unrelated to this bug, please don't conflate multiple issues into one bug report.

Hi ullix, I've forwarded your issue upstream to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23047 - please subscribe to that bug in case upstream needs further information or wishes you to test something. Thanks ahead of time.

Fwiw, without knowing a bit more about your setup, my guess is that gdm is using compositing or something, and isn't properly cleaning up its border rendering and is leaving those line droppings. In which case it might not actually be an X bug, but I've sent it upstream anyway in case it is.
