Bug Description

With xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.0.99+git20080912-0ubuntu6 now in intrepid-updates, all you need to do is update your system (just check the version of xserver-xorg-input-evdev if you joypad still doesn't work in Intrepid amd64, and make sure you're not using joystick-calibrator, jscal or another program like that).

Thanks everybody for your support! I updated the descriptions in the wiki, and I'm closing this bug report (you can still access it afterwards if you need your lshal output for another bug ;)
You can now disregard the following ;)

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-joystick
Here is a bug report where users can attach the output of lshal for their respective joystick, joypad and dance mat devices.

Please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Joystick_lshal beforehand for an explanation and to make sure this bug reports remains informative. Once you have added the relevant files, add your joystick model to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Joystick_lshal_outputs_done

I didn't follow the directions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Joystick_lshal exactly: I ran the lshal command first when the steering wheel was attached to the computer and then ran it without it (missed that part in the instructions). It seemed to work okay, but if it's a problem I can do the procedure again. I just have to go to sleep now :)

longborder, this shouldn't be needed anymore. If you install the updates, you pad should work now (try using it to set the keys in a simple game like FrozenBubble (it might not work perfect, but that's a problem with something else, and you can file a bug ;) ).

Thanks for the quick reply! Don't mean to sound ignorant, but which
updates? Just for the Joystick package? or all of Ubuntu? Thanks again!

It's black, look's exactly like "sony playstation 1" joypad, and has the dual-shock function...

I have bought it for about 3 years ago, it was made in china.

Company's home page : http://www.sztopway.cn/

When i connect it to my computer, it doesn't recognized by any game or game emulator...
The computer keeps working us usual...

How did the problem got fixed? Since as far as I can tell, I am running the latest version of xserver-xorg-input-evdev and Xorg continues to grab my Xbox360 gamepad. In addition to that if I install xserver-xorg-input-joystick the problem gets far worse, since not only is the gamepad grabbed, it also breaks the mouse, since the cursor constantly moves upward.
