Bug Description

Binary package hint: x11proto-gl-dev

Ubuntu 8.10
x11proto-gl-dev 1.4.9-1

/usr/include/GL/glxint.h depends on /usr/include/GL/gl.h, provided by the mesa-common-dev and nvidia-glx-*-dev packages.

At least a notice should be given to the user to make him notice this dependence.

X team, does that make sense? Alternate build dependencies (which is what this comes down to, since it's a -dev) are always a bit fishy, especially with non-free alternatives. Why didn't that lead to problems when building packages in intrepid?

This should be discussed with the Ubuntu/Debian X teams first and get fixed there. Until then this is not something which urgently needs to be fixed in intrepid.

On the one hand, I agree it looks like the missing include is a dependency problem. However, on the other I wonder if this might be intentional. I've forwarded this patch upstream to Debian for review and further comment. I'll post the bug ID here when I get it.
