Hi,

I've resync the ubuntu package with Christian Marillat debian package.
What is the next step? Should I upload it to REVU?

Thanks,
Fabrice

debdiff between debian package (Christian Marillat one) and built package.
Changes are:
- debian/rules: unnecessary include of quilt, bad reference to debian/stamp-patched and unpatch
- control: version changes to be compatible with Ubuntu versions (3.0 instead of 3.2) for libswscale-dev, libavcodec-dev, libavformat-dev. No references nedeed to quilt

Please rather provide a debdiff from the debian-multimedia package, and resubscribe ubuntu-universe-sponsors when done.

Hi,

Since we are now in Feature Freeze we should be more strict about this
update. Apologies that it has taken long enough to land us in feature
freeze.

You mention in your request that it fixes one important bug, can you
explain what that is? Also, the ChangeLog doesn't explain any changes,
do you know of a way to find out about what has changed. In particular
this will be easier to sell if it is a bugfix only update, do you know if
it is? The most recent ChangeLog entry sounds like it could be either.

Is this worth updating at this stage of the release? There are no rdepends
in the archive, so what benefit does this package have? What benefit does
the new release bring? The upstream site only lists one application using
the library, so is it even worth having the package in Ubuntu?

If you can answer these questions satisfactorily then I have a package I
can upload.

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

The important bug fixed is the one fixed in b10: the frame displayed from the video file was not always correct, and this mess up the output of that library.
As you say, this library doesn't have any rdepends for the moment in Ubuntu, but this is the first step to integrate DVDStyler, a DVD authoring tool, that depends on that library (see Bug #105653) in Ubuntu.

Last version of DVDStyler has more than 5000 download since the 28th of August.

From diffstat output, you can see that most of the changes has been done in generated files (configure, pywxsvg/gtk/wxsvg.py and pywxsvg/gtk/wxsvg_wrap.cpp).

But I have to say that new method appears in wxsvgb11, as last version of DVDStyler (1.7.0) doesn't compile againt b8, so it's not really a bugfix only release. Sorry.

About testing: I've being using DVDStyler 1.7 since july 2008, without any problems due to wxsvg.
And all the users of DVDStyler 1.7 are using also wxsvg b11.

The new functionality of this library is to define the type StreamType in mediadec_ffmepg.h:
enum StreamType {
 stUNKNOWN = 0,
 stVIDEO,
 stAUDIO,
 stSUBTITLE
};

and declare new method wxFfmpegMediaDecoder:GetStreamType to get that StreamType.

Not a big change.

Changes are huge, but It has no rdepends and tests provided seem to confirm new version is functional enough. ACK #1 from me.
