This is the fix that was applied

+ * Drop dependency on freetype1 by disabling the support for inserting
+ timestamp text in the images (Closes: #432195). With this change the
+ need for fonts is reomved and thus it drop the suggests on
+ msttcorefonts (Closes: #490033).

It was RC because Debian don't want to release with freetype1, how
does Ubuntu feel about it?

Check to see what else depends on freetype1, if it's nothing then we
probably want this to remove the package. If it's lots of things then
it's too late to be doing this, so we might as well not bother with this
package. If it's just a couple of packages in Universe we can decide
whether to transition now or later.

Hi,

I am going to close this bug, as I agree with you. The autosyncer will
pick up this package, so having the bug open is just extra work.
