Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

There are a lot of untranslated strings in some languages like Galician and Russian in the update-manager but LP shows them totally translated.

One example is:
"The package information was last updated %(days_ago)s day ago."

Strange, I just translated one of these sentences, and while gettext from command line sees it, update-manager does not.

I can confirm this bug for Dutch language, update-manager is fully translated and has been so for at least a week.

All strings mentioned in the bug report and the screenshot also appear untranslated in Dutch.

It appears that is a unintended-side effect of importing the aptdaemon client code. I created a branch that should fix the issue.

This bug was fixed in the package aptdaemon - 0.31+bzr476-0ubuntu2

---------------
aptdaemon (0.31+bzr476-0ubuntu2) maverick; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/07_i18n_fixes.patch:
    - use dgettext to not clobber the clients gettext.textdomain
      on import (LP: #631675)
  * debian/patches/05_sources_list_password.patch:
    - when adding a sources.list entry with a password protect
      the file via mode 0640 and root.admin ownership
