Some additional information for you: The update-manager generated a notification that updates were available. This happened while I was using Firefox. I opened the update-manager through the menu system and when I clicked on install updates the program locked up and never displayed the admin password dialog window. I rebooted, started Firefox, and opened my email so I could get the instructions to load the development version of libgksu. I had to start the Software Sources application three times before it actually started. I then installed the latest development version of libgksu, rebooted, started Firefox, and clicked on the Update Manager icon in the panel. It started as expected and displayed the password request when told to install updates.

At this time it appears as if the dev version of libgksu seems to have solved the problem. I will monitor the behaviour of the update-manager to see if the problem has been corrected. I will keep you informed.

Update manager will start normally but when I click on the "Install Updates" button I get the normal response of "Starting Administrator" but no login box appears. From that point on the Update Manager is frozen. This seems to happen only if another program has been started before running the Update Manager. If I reboot and immediately start Update Manager from the menu everything works fine. It seems to hang when starting from the updates are available icon. At this time this is an annoyance.
