Bug Description

Testing Maverick Alpha 2 on Dell Latitude 6510

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Laptop/Reports/DellLatitudeE6510

Suspending with several programs running (eg totem with ogg file playing), the laptop suspends fine (power button goes in sleep modus), but fails to resume completely: there is a black screen, but I hear totem playing the file again.
Ssh to machine from other machine is possible, but alt-ctrl-Fx to another terminal not.

I ran dmesg when connected to ssh. Will attach files here, for further hardware info see wiki page above

Same problem. I can usually suspend a few times without incident, but it's never made it more than 3 times.

The lights and hard drive come back to life, but the screen remains blank. Hitting the fn-key combos to change the brightness or to switch between lcd/monitor/both do not affect it.

Intel core i7 with nvidia card. What other information would be helpful?

on my Dell Latitude E6510.

there has been a lot of coding/testing with these Intel-chipsets for E6510.

In this (very long) threads: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/600453 and https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29278 it seems we finally have a HD screen working. With a Natty nightly and the kernel from #185 a lot of intel/screen stuff seemed to be fixed.

Sleeping and resuming is now also working with that kernel.

For me it makes it possible to use ubunto on my E6510 (because before that the screen was just black)., I was still on Lucid with an old kernel which was working.

It seems they will backport the fix to other ubuntu versions, please try and see if this helps. I'm eager to see the results from that (don't know how to monitor the fact that that fix is applied to a kernel version ....)

By the way: there was a difference between E6510 dells with integrated Intel chips versus the NVIDIA ones.
