I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. If you'd be willing to help us troubleshoot this issue further, I'd greatly appreciate it! In order to help us out, I'd need you to do the following:

1) Quit the Ubuntu One client
2) Applications->Accessories->Terminal, then:
  mv ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log_old
  mkdir ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log
3) Open (or create if it doesn't exist): ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf
    Add the following 2 lines to this file and save:
    [__main__]
    log_level = DEBUG
4) Applications->Internet->Ubuntu One
5) Let Ubuntu One run for a bit and see if you receive any files, if you do, please let me know :-) If not, please attach the following logs to this bug: ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log & ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log

Thank you,

Joshua

U1 applet reports to be updating 449 of 448 files which is an apparrently invalid statement. Also a considerable number of files are not yet shown in the web site evn after many hours, days. looks like u1 stops checking sync or something.

candtalan, what version of the client are you using?
   $ dpkg -l ubuntuone-client |cat

So, there are two problems:

It's possible for the UI to tell counts wrong.

There may be a sync problem.

Chad Miller, thanks for the response. At that time I was using karmic and the then current updates.
I do not know what the versions were at that exact time, sorry.

*Subsequently* I re installed with jaunty.

U1 update/s came almost at once. Things worked very well for days, with GBs uploading ok. Very impressive.

However, immediately following an attempt to throttle bandwidth, U1 has stopped syncing although many files are still yet not uploaded.
Also U1 applet soon shows disconnected, after a manual connect.

my current client is
ii ubuntuone-client 1.1.0+r306-0ubuntu1~ppa1~jaunty Ubuntu One client

I will attempt to report with fresh information and join to this bug - in fact I have failed to find how to attach information into this report, so I created a Bug #506687 which contains the information. i hope it is useful

candtalan,
there is a bug related to bandwidth throttling i noticed yours was marked on = True
 read_limit = 0
 write_limit = 0
 on = True
The problem is that setting the bandwidth preferences to the defaults (clicking on the checkboxes and not changing the values, leaving them 0) results in the read and write limits to be set to -1. The workaround is to delete the ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf, restart the client, and don't set the bandwidth settings to the defaults.

The U1 team is working very hard to take care of the few bugs. Thank you for your bug reports and all the information you provided us.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu development version, this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 448093 , and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. These would be:

~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log
 ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log

thank you,

Hello, i'm using lucid beta 2. When i put 2 text files in the the folder Ubuntu one, they are uploaded. But when i want to synchronize a folder (by clicking on "synchronize with ubuntu one" or by creating a symbolic link), some of the folders are uploaded but no files are transmitted.

@ Jean Demange
Ubuntu One does not support symlinks (in the Ubuntu One folder). You can put the data folder in the Ubuntu One directory and the symlink where the folder was.

Jayson Reis,
If this is still an issue for you with the latest version of Ubuntu One you can reopen this bug by setting the 'Status' to 'New'. The status of a bug report can be modified by clicking on the current status in the yellow line, which will reveal a sub menu. You can then set a new status in the drop down box. To attach more information please run the command :
apport-collect 448093
Include any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. These would be:

~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log
 ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log

Please continue to report any bugs you may find in the future.

thank you,
