The Ubuntu Installer documentation translations aren't published online

Hi,

Our policy is that translations of documentation should be published on the local team websites. We don't publish them on help.ubuntu.com, which (like www.ubuntu.com) is English only. Many teams do this and we'll be happy to give you a hand on the ubuntu-doc website if you have any questions about it.

Links like the one you posted can be amended by translators if a translated website exists. I'm closing the bug.

I'm copying the Ubuntu-fr Website as I couldn't find the documentation.

Perhaps we sould also re write this page to be more simple, like the official in help.ubuntu.com

It's not about the string, it's rather about the availability of the translated Documentation on the French website.

Si je comprends bien tu veux qu'on ait une traduction officielle de la documentation officielle (les quelques pages qui ne sont pas sous "community" et qui sont mises à jour pour chaque nouvelle version).

En fait cette documentation se présente plus comme un livre, le guide officiel d'Ubuntu. Il est vrai qu'on pourrait penser qu'une traduction serait intéressante. Mais à y regarder de plus prêt, nous avons déjà l'excellent travail de Didier Roche avec le livre Simple Comme Ubuntu qui fait ça en bien plus complet je pense. Livre que je ne trouve pas utile de fusionner dans notre documentation, d'autant plus qu'il est dans les dépôts maintenant, téléchargeable sur le net, et cerise sur le gâteau, on peut même l'acheter pour avoir une version papier. Notre documentation francophone étant par essence même communautaire, je ne mettrai pas en avant une traduction d'une documentation même officielle et de qualité, par rapport à toutes les pages que nous avons déjà.

Néanmoins si tu vois des informations de la documentation d'ubuntu qui devraient se trouver sur notre documentation francophone, je t'invite à compléter les pages ou créer les pages qu'il faut.

Bien entendu je reste ouvert à toute proposition surtout si je n'ai pas bien compris le fond de ta pensée.

À au fait, pour ce qui est de l'intégration de liens vers notre documentation actuelle dans les traductions, je ne pense pas que cela pose un soucis, et comme je le soulignais, on peut toujours ré-écrire les pages pour qu'elles correspondent à tes attentes.

Le livre de Didier a certainement de grandes qualités mais il ne couvre en rien le guide d'installation.
Le guide d'installation dont nous parlons est une version légèrement modifiée, pour l'adapter à Ubuntu, du guide d'installation Debian. Ce guide couvre tous les aspects d'une installation en mode texte ou graphique sur toutes les architectures disponibles.

Toutes ces choses sont peut-être présentes dans le Wiki d'ubuntu-fr mais sans cette organisation claire en chapitres et sous chapitres.

Comme je le dis depuis le début (je crois) vous êtes libre d'adapter notre documentation pour qu'elle remplisse plus ou moins cette tâche.

Néanmoins si vous voulez une copie conforme du help.ubuntu.com avec une version de cette documentation par version d'ubuntu, ce découpage en livres et autres..., et bien il faudra mettre un autre outils en place pour faire ça, qui pourrait être disponible à l'adresse guide.ubuntu-fr.org par exemple. Même canonical utilise des outils distincts à première vue.

Toute proposition de logiciels ou autre pour la faisabilité est la bienvenue.

I'm not sure what you mean by "with the chapter organisation", but here you can find some instructions on building the translated html files for the documentation -> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/Translation#Testing translations (which we should probably review and update, including e.g. Kubuntu).

We have also to decide where we want this documentation ( aide.ubuntu-fr.org ?) and how to index it.

so we need :
 - a theme
 - a search tool
 - a translation of switching from windows
 - a dns

We can also decide to put only some parts of this documentation.

Please don't translate "Switching from Windows", it's deprecated.

Would it be possible to publish the translations to the Doc website ?

J'ai généré cette documentation en suivant les tutoriels disponibles, cela se fait assez simplement. Néanmoins l'équipe doc m'a gentiment signalé que cette documentation était en cours de ré-écriture car un peu obsolète. De plus le thème utilisé actuellement est celui de l'ancien branding Ubuntu, qui plus est nous sommes en plein changement de thème également. Nous verrons à intégrer cette documentation ou une partie de celle-ci pour peu de temps après la sortie de la 10.10 (il faut toujours un peu de temps pour que la doc soit prête).
Nous verrons également comment bien l'intégrer, néanmoins je ne pense pas que nous aurons de recherche dessus dans un premier temps.

Il me semble que le changement de thème sur ubuntu-fr est terminé.
Il y a eu des discussions sur l'url à utiliser (help.ubuntu-fr.org, ...).

Cette doc serait très utile, surtout pour une LTS où les problèmes techniques de configuration avancée sont rarement abordés sur ubuntu-fr.org

It still a work in progress because it needs refinement on how it is generated, but it's already functionnal.

We also have the official official website (example : https://help.ubuntu.com/13.04/ubuntu-help/index.html ) presenting the translated ubuntu guide depending on your browser langage. Tanks to the hard work of documentation team for that.
