Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

When installing with the live CD graphical installer, I am offered a guided partitioning scheme where existing partitions are resized to make room for a new one. At least the Xubuntu version of Ubiquity the slider to change the size is hard to see. I thought the whole thing was buggy before being told on IRC that there is a slider.

I don't know how to make it more easy to notice, but it would be nice to do so.

The slider is a stock gtk.HPaned handle, so I am tempted to say this is really a bug in the GTK theme Xubuntu uses.

I will note however, that the slider widget is being removed in 9.04 and the partition resizing functionality is being merged into the "After" SegmentedBar widget. As the latter is implemented with Cairo, a much more obvious slider can be drawn that will look the same regardless of which GTK theme is used.

Evan, you're right, actually: many GTK+ programs have Panes with handles that can be hard to spot.

Anyway, good to know the problem will be solved in due course. (Obviously not worth doing anything about for intrepid.)
