tuxpaint crashes with no notification

Are you running from the menu? Could you run it from the command line
(type tuxpaint) and give us any output?

Is there anything in any of the log files?

I really only get a segmentation fault when I run tuxpaint with no arguments:

I have not tried different command-line options. I have changed a few settings in tuxpaint-config. By default the video size was set to 800x600. I changed it to 854x720. In the mouse tab I checked the "Grab Mouse Pointer" checkbox. In the Printing tab, I unchecked the "allow printing" checkbox.

I just tried full-screen mode for tuxpaint, and the screen froze. I had to do a hard reboot.

I think this is related to the screen resolution either on my laptop, or the Virtualbox VM, but I am not sure. I have virtualbox guest additions installed on the ubuntu VM. When I use full screen mode for the VM, the screen is plenty wide. That is no problem.

How do I check if tuxpaint supports widescreen displays?

Could you try tuxmath and tuxtype to see if they behave the same way?

Sorry for all these questions but we need more data to try and unpick
this.

Tuxmath and tuxtype both use the SDL library for graphics, like
tuxpaint.

I just installed tuxmath and tuxtype. I did not have a problem with either one. I also tried tuxpaint for about 15 minutes without any segmentation faults.

So does it now work okay? There is nothing obviously connected in the

I'm puzzled and I don't really have enough to be able to debug it.

I just got seg faults on three more occasions just now. Each time I was using the foam magic tool. From the main screen, I clicked the button on the left labeled magic. Then I selected foam on the right. Within a few seconds the app crashed.

I've sent it upstream but we need to work out how to get info we can work with. I think we need to ask you to re-enable apport. The segfault message itself doesn't tell us very much.

If you look at : https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Apport#Per-package%2520Apport%2520Hooks

Could you try:

sudo force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport restart
and then run tuxpaint

It should then give us a crashlog. It'll probably submit it as a new bug. I should find out about this anyway as I subscribe to all tuxpaint bugs, but could you say which number it is anyway?

I just ran tuxpaint with apport running. The webpage that came up said the the crashlog would be added automatically when I finished.

Now when I try to make tuxpaint crash, apport ignores it because the problem was already reported.

I found the original crashlog, and I attached it as a zip file.
