The version currently in ubuntu has a bug with the jabber vcards support, this version fix the bug

yeah, Gabble 0.5.13 suffers a serious regression in vcard code.

Well, 0.5.14 is basically 0.5.13 + regression fix so there is no point to just patch the current package.

It's the basically that concerns me. We've already had one UVFe for this package and are now dealing with a regression as a result. At this point I think we ought to focus on the minimal fix to solve the regression.

this is true, but if the only fix there does solve the regression, we may as well sync it (we'll get the same upstream code)

It would be nice if the people involved could actually perform regression testing *before* requesting UVFe's, though.

I've asked upstream and they confirm that this version should not cause regression.
This version fix regression in vcard support and fix PEP nickname (which is used by very few servers)

I guess I'd be comforted by that if the had expected regression from the
last release. I'd still prefer to see the current version patched for the
regression. Others in motu-uvf may feel differently.
