Bug Description

Binary package hint: sugar

I installed sugar-platform version 0.86 in ubuntu 9.10, during login I changed the session to sugar and was able to use the various activities. But after logging out and returning to the default gnome session the mouse malfunctioned. Both the Right click and the left click don't work as expected. I manage to get the desired behavior from the mouse only after pressing the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard.

I managed to get a workaround this problem by deleting the ".gconf" folder in my homes. But I face this same problem again when I switch to gnome from sugar.

I am pretty sure that this is a bug in xephyr but I have encountered
continual unsetting of my alt-tab setting when trying sugar from a
command line. It's very annoying and very repeatable. I haven't dug
into why it's happening or exactly which package is to blame yet.

Hi,

Had the exact same problem, and was driving me crazy after trying to use Sugar.

However, someone suggested to disable Compiz in the forums for an issue with mouse poling while he was using a program, so it gave me the idea to try disabling Compiz and see what happens.

After doing so, my mouse worked normally again, so I narrowed it down to Compiz.

Then I went all around Compiz settings, until I finally found the culprit in the General Options, Key bindings for Window Menu.

Just to make things short, you can access it directly through gconf:

/apps/compizconfig/profiles/Default/general/allscreens/options/window_menu_button

Change setting from "Button3" to "<Alt>Button3" (Without quotes of course)

Hope this helps.

Question still remains. Why does Sugar change this setting?

Looks like the compiz gconf backend is listening for changes in metacity key bindings and changing its own keybindings accordingly. This is because integration with GNOME is activated.

hi, same here. Cant try sugar with this ugly behavior.
I manage to fix it going to menu->system->preferencies-> windows and seeing that all movement keys (alt, ctrl & Super) were selected. I checked only once and fix it.
sorry my bad english.

Ramaddan's solution did not work for me, as I have no such file path. However Cristian Molina's solution worked for me.
