Bug Description

1. Please merge sensors-applet 2.2.5-4 (universe) from Debian (testing)

2. Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The patch for nvidia support is still needed.

3. Changelog since current karmic version 2.2.3-2ubuntu1:

 sensors-applet (2.2.5-4) unstable; urgency=low

   * Don't build-depend on libatasmart-dev on freebsd, where it does not exist.

 -- Sam Morris <email address hidden> Wed, 31 Mar 2010 19:23:39 +0100

 sensors-applet (2.2.5-3) unstable; urgency=low

   * Build-depend on docbook-xml and rarian-compat. Closes: #564397.
   * Rebuild build system with gnome-autogen.sh rather than autoreconf.

 -- Sam Morris <email address hidden> Sat, 09 Jan 2010 13:35:47 +0000

 sensors-applet (2.2.5-2) unstable; urgency=low

   * Switch from CDBS to debhelper 7.
   * Regenerate autotools-generated build system at build time. New
     build deps:
      - autoconf
      - automake
      - libtool
      - gnome-common (for GNOME_COMPILE_WARNINGS macro)
     Also conflict with old versions of autoconf/automake.

 -- Sam Morris <email address hidden> Wed, 30 Dec 2009 14:41:15 +0000

sensors-applet (2.2.5-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream release. Closes: #562905.
   * Increase required version of GTK+ and GLib build-dependencies.
   * Introduce new dbus-glib and libatasmart build-dependencies.
   * Remove obsolete patchutils build-dependency.

 -- Sam Morris <email address hidden> Tue, 29 Dec 2009 00:59:36 +0000

sensors-applet (2.2.4-2) unstable; urgency=low

   * Convert to Debian source package format 3.0 (quilt).

 -- Sam Morris <email address hidden> Sun, 22 Nov 2009 12:55:41 +0000

sensors-applet (2.2.4-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream release
   * Added 100_link-to-libdl.patch. Fix FTBFS with binutils-gold.
     Closes: #556342.
   * Added 200_automake.patch. Previous patch modifies a Makefile.am, so this
     is the result of re-running automake.

This bug is tagged needs-packaging which identifies it as a request for a new package in Ubuntu. As a part of the managing needs-packaging bug reports specification, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/Specs/NeedsPackagingBugs, all needs-packaging bug reports have Wishlist importance. Subsequently, I'm setting this bug's status to Wishlist.

I'm putting my work on this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sensors-applet/+bug/249955

This bug report is slightly confusing, why .1 to .4 when .3 already exists? But hey, thanks for the simple request, as it is a good opportunity to learn about packaging.

I suspect this should be a dupe of the other bug report. I new to this, so I don't know.

Debian package compiled for Lucid. I have already had atomicspark test the package and he reports no problems.

I installed sensors-applet_2.2.5-3_i386 and libsensors-applet-plugin0_2.2.5-3_i386 straight from debian and it seems to work. It does not need hddtemp anymore.

This patch keeps all Ubuntu changes:
1. enabling nvidia support
2. disabling -Wl, --as-needed LDFLAGS

I did not attach the diff against the previous current Ubuntu source as it is too large.

By the way, I'm not sure if #2 is still needed, but I carried it over just to be safe. More info on this can be found in the changelog.

Uploaded. Thanks for your work!
I've dropped the compilation flags changes (-Wl,--as-needed), as the package builds fine, and I don't see any problem with it. If it appear that the changes are required, ping me.

Thanks,
Fabrice
