Bug Description

Binary package hint: scribus-ng

See http://lists.scribus.info/pipermail/scribus/2008-July/029480.html
So at least for intrepid it might be better to loose 1.3.4 and make 1.3.5 the scribus-ng. Scribus 1.3.5 depends on QT 4 and will be release around the same time intrepid will (hopefully..)

I'll look into packaging it, but still I would be in favour of removing it altogether - IMHO users shouldn't rely on unstable releases, even though the Scribus crew manages to get even experimental releases pretty usable.

The debian scribus-ng package now moved to the 1.3.5 svn branch: http://packages.debian.org/sid/scribus-ng

Lukasz,

I agree with what you are saying about not packaging unstable releases. However, I now rely on files created with "scribus-ng" from a Ubuntu package, with the stable version can not yet read. Indeed, I think I started using the "ng" version because I ran into a problem with the stable version.

If scribus-ng is removed now, I won't be able to open the files I've created with it. I don' t think scribus-ng should be removed we reach the point where the stable version can open the same files. (This may happen around 1.3.6 or 1.3.7.

Just a minor remark: The scribus-ng package from debian can be used under intrepid without any apparent problems.

jaunty has 1.3.5.dfsg~svn20090208-2ubuntu1
if this will not be updated in intrepid, seems unlikely (maybe could be done as a backport), then this bug should be closed.

Changed in scribus-ng (Ubuntu):
