Bug Description

* Impact

When connecting with RDP Remmina crashes. It's due to an invalid API use in remmina and stricter checking in the most recent freerdp3 version which makes it error out now.

* Test case

Try to connect to a RDP server using remmina, it shouldn't crash

* Regression potential

The change is fixing an incorrect API use in the RDP plugin around color check, if there is an issue it will be in the RDP support, probably around colors handling

For me it seems to crash at the same point.

This is from a connection to a Windows 10 machine that is up and running and the same connection used to work before I upgraded from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24:04.
remmina version: org.remmina.Remmina - 1.4.35 (git n/a)

The issue has been already fixed in Remmina:

Now, the question is how long to get into Ubuntu's 24.04 packages

Supposedly, you can use the flatpak version or downgrade remmina

I was able to make remnina works using the snap version. If anyone wants to import all of its conections can do it moving the files here: ~/snap/remmina/current/.local/share/remmina/

In addition, a version of Remmina with the fix applied can be installed using the project's remmina-next PPA, found here:

A flatpak version exists as well.

Please upload 0ubuntu5 (or higher) to oracular too. It would have been best to use 1.4.35+dfsg-0ubuntu4.1 for noble, but we are in that twilight zone period now right after a release :)

Accepted remmina into noble-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/remmina/1.4.35+dfsg-0ubuntu5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-noble to verification-done-noble. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-noble. I just tested remmina 1.4.35+dfsg-0ubuntu5 from proposed repo: RDP connections works as expected so problem is solved.

NOTE: I've tested amd64 and arm64 versions connecting one against the other.

I updated remmina to 1.4.35+dfsg-0ubuntu5 via the noble-proposed repo (and using amd64), and remmina's RDP connections stopped crashing and started working correctly again.
