Bug Description
Binary package hint: pitivi
When launching Pitivi is starts to launch but fails.
This is the output when I launch from Terminal:
:~$ pitivi
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/pitivi", line 117, in <module>
_init_
File "/usr/bin/pitivi", line 106, in _init_gobject_
import gst
File "/usr/lib/
from _gst import *
RuntimeError: can't initialize module gst: Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal
I have just installed 9.10 (Karmic)
Pitivi version: 0.13.3-2
It did work when first installed but stopped. I did run a couple of updates since installing Pitivi which may have broken it? I am experiencing exact same problem and output in terminal when launching Jokosher as well.

I get the same type of error when starting all kind of gstreamer applications: "RuntimeError: can't initialize module gst: Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal"
- gstreamer -rpopertiers
- exaile
- rhythmbox
- totem
This seams to be the same bug as https:/ /launchpad. net/bugs/ 438366
