Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Whenever I click on a Yahoo! Mail notification, Pidgin sends me to the Yahoo! login page even if I have recently logged in, or if I have checked off the "Keep me signed in for 2 weeks" checkbox. This is a hassle because I have to type in my 12-character password every time.

I think the Yahoo! Mail URL should be changed to www.yahoo.com because if you are already signed in you only have to click on the mail link w/out having to type in your password. If changing the default link isn't possible for security reasons, then I think Pidgin should at least give it's users the option to change the default.

I don't know if it is appropriate to post such a wishlist item here (as the upstream is on a different bug tracker). I would greatly appreciate if someone could carry this wish over to the pidgin bug tracker. If that happens then we could mark this bug as invalid.

This bug was marked as a duplicate to a closed bug upstream, but I feel as if the developer mistook my description.
It seems that he/she thinks that I want Pidgin to log me into my yahoo! mail account even when I have been signed out. This is not the case. I just want the link pidgin opens in firefox to be changed (or have the option to do so) - from whatever it is now, to http://mail.yahoo.com. This link, which I use as a bookmark, will go straight to your mailbox if you are already signed in, but it will also force you to enter your credentials if you are currently logged out.

The duplicate bug seemed to be a login manager for pidgin, rather than a reference to the yahoo link.

I don't have an account on the Pidgin tracker, so I would appreciate it if you (Moog) or anyone else could send my comment upstream. Thanks in advance!
