Bug Description

Binary package hint: ogmrip

It has many useful new features like constant bitrate or profiles and many bug fixes. There is already the current version under http://www.getdeb.net/app/OGMRip .
It would be great if the build fix of Bug 247826 could also be integrated with the sync since gocr and ocrad produce many errors and tesseract seems to be much more sophisticated.

Failed to build on Intrepid, reported upstream (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2102811&group_id=75595&atid=544485). Maybe a gcc 4.3 bug.

Testing packages are available for Hardy in my PPA (https://edge.launchpad.net/~gilir/+archive)

A preliminary version is available here: http://ogmrip.sourceforge.net/misc/ogmrip-0.12.2.tar.gz

Can you check if it compiles on Intrepid ?

Freeze exception request.
Reasons :
- 0.12.X bring some great features, like profiles (automatic configuration). You don't have to deal with all configuration parameters, just put the DVD, select Video and Audio track, select the quality and it's done.
- 0.12.X is the current versions maintained upstream and 0.11.1 a bit old (a year old).
- 0.12.X is incremential (no big rewrite)
- 0.12.2 is the 3rd release of the 0.12.X cycle, so we can expect some testing was done earlier.

I attached diffstat, changelog diff and the install log. Build log can be found in my PPA : http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18169287/buildlog_ubuntu-intrepid-i386.ogmrip_0.12.2-0.0ubuntu1_FULLYBUILT.txt.gz

Installing and launching OK on a fresh Ubuntu 8.10 beta.
Testing all profiles on Hardy OK (I have problem with DVD access on my Intrepid virtual machine).
Testing packages available in my PPA.

Hi Stefan:

Sorry, I've not used or heard of it in the past. No opinion here :)

<jdong> sistpoty|work: I think it's a good idea; upstream has abandoned the 0.11.x branch and it's basically one of the only ogg theora GUI-friendly encoders we've got

so ACK #1 from me.

Thanks for FFe. Is there something I need to do now for the upload ? (I didn't see it in the repository yet ?)

Hi Julien,

You still need a sponsor to upload the package for you. Hopefully that will happen
in the next couple of days.

Thanks,

James

Hi Julien,

A couple of comments. The changelog states "Merge from Debian unstable", which
suggests it is in Debian, but this is from Debian multimedia, so stating that would
be better.

When you merge packages please maintain the Ubuntu changelog entries, rather
than just taking the Debian changelog and adding a new Ubuntu stanza on top.

Thanks,

James

Uploaded, thank you.

I tweaked the changelog a little bit, I hope you don't mind.

Thanks,
