Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-185

1. install any amd64 ubuntu-based distro 9.10/10.04.
2. install nvidia drivers via apt/jockey/envyng/nvidia.com's installer/s (all have the same outcome).
3. reboot or startx, soon after system crashes completely.

Tried every how-to I could find the past 3 days. Xorg.conf settings till I turned blue in my face. Lots of kernels and some different drivers from 173 to 195. Same hardware running i386 kernels works 100%. Not easy for me to debug so if there's some tips of how I can retrieve info please! At the moment I use another computer to ssh into this one with the problem so that I can get feedback via pts just before the system halts.

Sorry, thought I could add more than one attachment. Please see general info regarding the system attached.

PS: the Xorg.0.log is empty if I use the "nvidia" driver, so I attached Xorg0.log of a normal boot using the "nv" driver.

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.

Changed in nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
