Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

In Gutsy after logging into gnome session the network-manager fails to connect to internet, I have to click on it select enable networking and uncheck it than enable it, than it finds connection. I want to say i started seeing this at version 0.6.5-0ubuntu3 but somewhere around there.

This bug is related to your ticket #124296 (gnome-keyring)

Adding in some observations based on my 7.10 setup

a) Gnome Keyring : load prompt : "allow once / deny / allow always" : even though allow always for say - nm-applet - is selected, it is not storing the preference. So at next boot, it again prompts for the same.

b) I have noticed that - my nm-applet which connects to a "WPA Wireless" at home and to an "Ethernet" at office -- seems to wait for
gnome-keyring to be available. If at start, I bring up gnome-keyring, do a manual password to it, then nm-applet is able to read the stored passphrase for WPA and go forward.

c) In some cases with Ethernet, I have had to wait for nm-applet to load (it is taking some time to come up ~1 min after the desktop comes up)
and then do a unplug-plugin Ethernet connection and it works.

I could understand that gnome-keyring-manager would be related if i needed a password to log in. Im not on wireless on this pc so i shouldnt ever need a password to connect.

I can confirm that this came with the last few days updates. I also have a wired connection that doesn't come up. I can unplug/replug the cable to get it started, or restart network-manager with "sudo /etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager restart".

I don't think this is a duplicate of bug #50099, since that one is one year old, and this one just appeared (and is now fixed).
