Bug Description

Binary package hint: netbook-launcher

Hi

the example-content package is included in live images to allow people to try out music playback video playback etc.. In Ubuntu Desktop Edition, a link to Example contents if shown on the desktop, but it's not very useful in UNR live images because the desktop isn't displayed by nautilus.

Would be nice to see such links or perhaps all the Desktop contents in File&Folders (this is requested in bug #412030 already).

Thanks

I would say this is a dup of 412030 then wouldn't it be? Or are you saying you would like to see example content be a link by itself under the files&folders tab?

Well, we could indeed reach the Desktop folder and then open Examples, but I'd rather have it a bit more visible since a) it will help testing b) it will actually be visible to users. So I do see it as a different bug, but a wishlist one indeed.

I think 412030 is fixed though.

Partially, yes. Bug #412030 called for desktop and home directory to be visible from the files&folders tab. Desktop is now available there, but now the home dir.

A little bit harder than first plan as xdg-open use gedit and nautilus uri doesn't open the examples.desktop file, but it's done.

Should be available in beta 1

I don't think it is useful to have this folder after installing Ubuntu

Fixed it but good. Now the folder won't go away, even if the example content has been removed. This was better when it relied on the Nautilus bookmarks. Should be handled by the example content package adding a bookmark, not the netbook launcher.

As explained in bug #412030, the example folder only appears if you have the examples.desktop file in your home, as for desktop installation.
