gmplayer says 'gnome_screensaver_control()'

Bug Description

Binary package hint: mplayer

When watching something using gmplayer for a long time (I presume long enough so that the screensaver would come on, but doesn't because gmplayer tells it not to), gmplayer pops up a message box that just says 'gnome_screensaver_control()'. I guess this is some bit of debugging code that was left behind, or something.

I can confirm this. This happens when the screensaver has been inhibited.

I can confirm this as well. This happens when starting and stopping video playback when the "Stop XScreensaver" option is enabled.

Same bug, doesn't occur if StopXscreensaver option is disabled

Moreover when this message box is shown screensaver is still disabled so if you're watching video in bed, it doesn't turn on screensaver after movie finished—which is bad.

I observe a more strange behaviour:
- whenever I play a video with gmplayer, this error message pops up
- I can not disable the StopXScreensaver option: even if I turn it off, the next time I run gmplayer, this is again switched on

I observed this behavior every single time a movie ended, even if I just started MPlayer and dragged the slider to the end.

It did go away when I turned off Stop XScreensaver...

Not only does it pop up with this message but I also note that it takes substantially longer for Mplayer to load when the screensaver is disabled. Somewhere in the range of 30-60 seconds.

This is my first post/patch - please correct me if I'm not posting this appropriately, but the solution to this problem is a very simple one.

I'm having this problem also... when trying to play DVDs, I get the warning, and then MPlayer won't play the DVD.

Since there is a patch to this, could the package maintainer shove that into an update?

New proposed patch to replace the old one. This, additionally, makes gnome_screensaver_control() messages output only with the verbose option. They are far from fatal and should not cause errors. After switching to KDE, I was getting gnome_screensaver_control() even at the start of videos. This should solve that.

If you have the patch, and its a confirmed bug. Why isn't it being fixed?
