Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

Description: Ubuntu 7.04
Release: 7.04
Thunderbird version 1.5.0.14ubu (20080724)

When I receive an Email that has a FTP URL of this form ..

ftp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@SERVER_NAME

in it, Thunderbird assumes it to be an Email address. Clicking on the URL opens a new message composition window with the To field set to ftp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@SERVER_NAME. The link should pass the FTP URL to the default browser.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? I'm unable to reproduce this issue with Thunderbird 2.0.0.19, so it would be very helpful to know if you are still having this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi Joel, I haven't upgraded Thunderbird or the OS on this machine so,
yes, it still happens (I just checked).

It's not really an issue for me as I just c'n'p the URL into a browser ;-)

Unfortunately, I don't run thunderbird on any of my machines that have a
newer version of Ubuntu on them so I don't know if it's an issue on
Ubuntu > 7.04

I didn't report the bug in the expectation that it would be fixed for
me, I just thought it was worth reporting as it's obviously not the
desired behaviour.

Cheers

This bug report is being closed because it appears this is already fixed in the most recent release. Unfortunately, Feisty is not supported anymore, so fixes will not be made available to Feisty. If you are able to reproduce this bug on a supported version of Ubuntu, please feel free to reopen this bug report. Thanks for your time and interest in making Ubuntu better!
