This is caused by the recent addition of universe and multiverse to the sources.list in the chroot, in case of installation from a cdrom without universe on it, it should only use main and restricted, adding universe and multiverse after installation.

A fixed package has been uploaded.

Changes:
 ltsp (5.1.29-0ubuntu3) intrepid; urgency=low
 .
   * Make sure universe component is only enabled on CDs where it
actually exist by checking for /cdrom/dists/intrepid/universe.
After building the client from CD, make sure the sources.list
contains everthing the server has to make sure -updates and
universe are available in the chroot.

Stephane, if your fixed package contains a mechanism for *all* chroots to include -updates and universe (not just building from alternate CD) it will mean https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ltsp/+bug/277331 is a duplicate of this one. Please verify and we can kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

its only containing half of the fix for bug 277331, it will only include -updates for users installing directly from CD
