Hi,

The warning reported in the attached OopsText.txt log appears to have been resolved with a patch from upstream (I'll past the commit message below). This patch is now in the next 2.6.31.6 upstream stable kernel patch set which will soon be applied to the Ubuntu Karmic kernel as a Stable Relesae Update. In the mean time, I've built the following test kernel to verify this patch does indeed resolve this issue. If you could test and provide feedback that would be great. Thanks!

And test kernels with the complete 2.6.31.6 patch set applied for testing are available at the following PPA. Again, please test and let us know your results.

Hello,

Just want to let you know that I updated to the kernel 2.6.31.6, or more precisely:
Linux he-laptop 2.6.31-16-generic #51~pre2-Ubuntu SMP Thu Nov 12 14:47:25 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

following Leann's message. So far, everything works fine. The problem of the "black screen" during boot up I met in 2.6.31-15 also doesn't happen again.

Thanks, Jibo

It looks like this got into Karmic a while ago in 2.6.31-17.54 [1].

This problem occurred when I was trying to get my Broadcom wireless radio in my laptop (Dell latitude D600) working.
It now finally works. But it has taken my a couple of days.
The ¨Wifi docs wireless trouble shooting guide¨ was invaluable. I could not have done this without this guide.
Ubuntu created this report automatically. Then it asked if I wanted to send a message whith APPORT. So I did that.
If this is the umphteenth comment just delete it.
friendly regards,
Piet
