Which options do i need to remove from the grub line per triage page (msg 1)? This is bug reproduceable. I think it is suspending fine, the problem is at resume. The last two times i have tryed suspend/resume, disk lights then if i waited i got a mouse pointer on a black screen. And thats as far as it goes.

I ctr-alt-f1 at login prompt got root and tryed:

setfont /usr/share/consolefonts/Uni1-VGA8.psf.gz
sudo pm-suspend

font not found
pm-suspend - no text output to screen then no resume.

If you have need of other info please post what you would like and i will try to provide it.

also this laptop is a new model. so this would be a new bug i.e. has never worked. this particular model of laptop will not even load ubuntu 8.10 only completes install with 9.04 jaunty. hardware compatibilities i guess.

The machine didnt wake up properly. I can reproduce the crash. It didnt work before. What I got was a suspend seemed to work but it didnt resume everything. The desktop loaded but not the same as it was when it went to sleep.

I think this is related to the HP ATA disk problem on resume from suspend. At the black screen with Mouse moving, I can hit ctrl-alt-f1 and get a console with errors about failing disk access.

Yes I do get read only file system errors when the checkbox tests are running because it attempts to log the errors but it cant because its not after resuming properly.

It seems there is some problem with EXT4 filesystem. I've got following error:
EXT4-fs error (device sda7): ext4_find_entry: reading directory #9118 offset 0

Serga is this a problem with suspend and resume of a Hewlett-Packard Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC?
I use Ext3 so I dont think that the file system is the problem.

It seems to be a problem with almost all HP with UBUNTU. I've checked with Mandriva - it works. So, I think problem is in kernel.

I've used boot option pci=nomsi and it works!!! Kernel still report some kind of problem but it resume perfectly. Try it on your laptop.
