This bug has to do with bluetooth in in Ubuntu 8.10, generally.

"Visible and Connectable for Other Devices"
3. In "/etc/bluettoth
device MOUSE_ADDR {
name "Microsoft Mouse";
}
4. "sudo hidd --search", finds the mouse and connects
5. I reboot, login
*Note: The mouse worked here for a while but then when I rebooted and logged in again....*
6. Mouse does not work and GUI is non-functional. None of the menu icons/opions work (e.g. notification area is empty, trash does not respond, applications/
7. double clicking on a Terminal link on my desktop opens a new window which freezes also. So I go to ttyl Terminal 2 (alt+ctrl+F2)
8. So I switched to the text layout using Ctrl-Alt-F2 and typed:
9. hcitool scan
[and it finds the mouse and lists it here]
10. sudo hidd --search
Expected Result:
Mouse should work
Actual Result:
Mouse does not work and Ubuntu is frozen after login
Hi Zach,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/releases/ karmic .
If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux 290698
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
