Bug Description

I have just upgraded my 6.06 LTS to 8.04 LTS, but I can't enter the system as the boot sequence immediately stops at this message:

This (id 10ec:8139 rev10) is not a 8139C+ compatible chip. Use the 8139too driver instead.

Booting from previous kernel I can see that both modules 8139cp and 8139too are loaded towards mii.

[EDIT]

I made this test:
- boot on previous kernel 2.6.15
- put 8139cp in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
- update-initramfs -u
- reboot on 2.6.24-16

In this case the boot sequence hanged on the first message "Loading, please wait..." forever.

Could you pls delete this bug report?

I have removed the "quite" option in grub and I have realized the problem was causing by a mis-configured /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf file.
I edited the file, updated initdr and rebooted fine.

Thanks

PS: Why on dapper mdam didn't take care of mdadm.conf?
