[PATCH] closing laptop lid doesn't suspend system

Bug Description

The kernel does not emit a lid event when coming back from suspend. Richard Hughes tracked down the bug and has a patch pending, but it didn't make 2.6.22.

Thanks for the report and the patch. Do you have an overview of how much hardware this affects? I saw DELL latitude 600 and ThinkPad x40 mentioned in the redhat bug.

I've personally tested a Gateway tablet (unknown model), a Gateway NX570X, an HP 2100, an HP 2200, and an HP NX7300.

(All the models I have access to..)

This is a problewm with gutsy and my laptop, which is a thinkpad t61.

This bug is already on my laptop wtih gutsy.
Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend system, but suspend from menu works well.
My laptop is HP NC6000.

I can confirm this on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 510m).
Suspend works when from menu but not when lid is closed.

I will try the patch and report the result.
