Good afternoon,

I noticed the last report on this bug was from 2006-05-15, and I am wondering if you are still having problems with the desktop icons being hidden by the panel? Could you please update this bug with further information, if you are still having this problem, what version of Kubuntu you are using along with the version of KDE you are using?

Thanks,

Jonathan

I reported a similar problem awhile back, but thought it had been fixed. My problem sounds the same, but nothing to do with kde. In gnome, when adding some launchers to the desktop, then copying them to the top panel some seem to dissapear. But, when I try and add them again later, then two icons suddenly appear, making it seem like they were hidden. I thought it had been fixed, but it seems to have come back.

Now, should I make a new bug report because this is on gnome?

here are the launchers that seem to dissapear the most. I have no idea if it is because they are spherical. Gaim dissapeared once too.

to clarify............ When I tried to add the icon a second time in the same exact spot, then two suddenly appeared....... making it seem as if it really just became hidden.

the screenshot shows the two most prone launchers and where they were when they dissapeared.

Assigning this back to the KubuntuTeam and changing to Confirmed. Hopefully we can get some work on this.

Hi,

Well, if i remember, the problem was that when kde started, the icons were first aligned as if there were no panel. Usually, when the panel did appear, the icons were moved so the panel did not cover them. But sometimes they were not moved and stayed below the panel.

The problem also appeared when arranging icons automatically. The icons were arranged as if then panels were not there. Panels partially covered the icons.

I can't remember when the problem last appeared. But I'll make some tests.

Just an update to say that this bug makes its come-back with KDE4... Some people just don't learn ;-)

Bug still present in KDE 3.5.9. I doubt that bug will ever be fixed. I made a panel at the top of the screen and the icons are MOVED behind. Why does KDE mess with the icons? Why can't it just leave them alone? I don't know.

Upstream has implemented this for KDE 4.2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFjfk2AAn6s

We should get it in the Jaunty Jackalope cycle.

Jaunty Jackalope?

Gah.

I do hope the K release comes along fast. ;-)

(While you're at it, K would be a good time to make the K DE in Kubuntu really shine. And put some media visibility behind it too.)

But anyway, thanks for the information, looking forward to an improved KDE 4.
