KDE 4.3.0: Desktop Doesn't Automatically Refresh

Bug Description

I am using Kubuntu Karmic 64-bit, and I noticed yesterday that the desktop doesn't automatically refresh. For example, if I download a file to my desktop from the internet, I have to right click the desktop and click "refresh" in order to see it. The same thing goes when I delete a file from my desktop, the icon for it will still be there until I manually refresh the desktop. I am using my desktop as a classic desktop, not folder view.

I installed a fresh copy of Karmic Alpha 6, and I am having the same problem.

I experienced the same problem using dophin in last few weeks (using KK 32-bit). It has probably something to do with changes in 2.6.31 kernel. I also found this bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207361

Kernel problem, this has been fixed for me w/ the latest updates in karmic.

What in particular was the fix for this problem? The information may
prove useful for other distributions. In Arch, we have the latest kernel
2.6.31 and KDE 4.3.2 already and it hasn't fixed it.
