Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde4pim

Following the instructions for kde4 on gusty, I can't get kmail ( or other pim applications ) running.

Starting with kconsole running on kde3, I type :-

$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/kde4/lib
$ export KDEDIRS=/usr/lib/kde4
$ export PATH=/usr/lib/kde4/bin/:$PATH
$ export KDEHOME=~/.kde4
$ kmail
kmail: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/kde4/lib/libkdepim.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZTI18KStaticDeleterBase

Is this possibly due to the fact that we don't yet have all of the 3.93 packages ( at least for 64-bit ) ? Perhaps kmail was compiled against older libraries ? Is this a case of waiting ?

KDE4-PIM isn't released yet. You will have to wait for KDE 4.1 which comes with PIM. The fix is to simply use the KDE3 programs for now. Not very pretty, but they will do the job.

Hi everyone, I'm experimenting a similar problem and looking up I found a some other problems like this.
First my problem is with a program named "avogadro" I upgraded it and the problem started. When i try to run it by clicking on its icon it does not work
so I run it on terminal and i got the next message:

avogadro: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libavogadro.so.0: undefined symbol: _ZN9OpenBabel5OBMol8GetMolWtEv

well i found that somebody has had problems like this one with Firefox and XChat after upgrade CAIRO and PANGO to their latest versions,
and the error message was something like this one:

-------- symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgtk-x11.2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_object_compat_control

the solution he found was by upgrading gtk+2 and glib.
Now I think we need to upgrade some libs but that is the problem i don't know which libs

Hi,

I have Kubuntu with KDE 4.3.2 and have installed KDE 4.4+ trunk on a kde-dev user.

I use Qt Creator 1.2.1 for development, and when I try to open a .ui file, the Designer component crashes with this message:
/usr/bin/qtcreator.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/designer/ksysguardwidgets.so: undefined symbol: _ZN17KMonitorProcessIOC1EP7QWidgeti

Oszkar: Everyone else's comments were back in 2008, when KDE4.1 came out.

Your issue is a missing library that ksysguardwidgets wants. Presumably a change to Qt4.5
I have QtCreator working fine in KDE 4.4. Make sure you have absolutely everything up to date.
