Bug Description

The default icon theme installed with Edgy does not seem to have appropriate mime type icons for
- executables
- scripts
- (shared) libraries
- source files (c, c++, whatever all look like text files)

While this does not seem to be very major for normal desktop use, those files types look very ugly in developer applications like anjuta. We use these icons for example to represent automake target types and it's not very nice if executables, scripts and libraries all share the same white icon.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I have running Hardy here (not from the LiveCD but installed...) and there are still no icons for shared libraries and C/C++ files still look exactly the same as text files.

changed to confirmed, as I can reproduce it in a fresh hardy install, and many complain about it in irc and gnome bugzilla

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

This is a feature request , Not a papercut.
A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the papercuts project.
