Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-orca

Orca jumps directly to buttons instead of reading the panel content.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Ubiquity installer
2. Orca reads the panel title and jumps to quit, back and forward buttons

Upstream Developers Comment:
I think this is a downstream problem. The distribution really should take responsible for making their custom applications accessible.

I can confirm that this is still the case in ubiquity of the the current Lucid daily.

None of the informational text provided by ubiquity is read out by orca screen reader.

I can confirm this, even after updating the ubiquity script to orca's new script API. Need to test in maverick to be sure, but it doesn't work in lucid. I think this may have something to do with Ubiquity's UI, although I cannot be sure just yet. I need to dig around with accerciser to see what the script is missing/needs to do now that things are somewhat different.

I don't think this is an issue with Ubuiquity. We need to script Orca to recognise the elemts that make up the different page tabs, extract the text, and read it. As I said above, I think something changed in the UI, but am not 100% sure, and need to use accerciser to take a closer look.

Luke, I can take up the task of testing ubiquity poking with accerciser but never figured out how to both of them working at the same time. Any pointers?
