Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

While testing the Ubuntu tribe 3 gutsy release, I noticed that the login screen (gdm) no longer supports tabbing to switch from username to password. I usually type in my username, hit tab, type in my password and hit enter. This works fine on Feisty, but currently with Gutsy I must hit enter instead of tab.

The issue happens here too on an up-to-date Gutsy install. I changed the status to confirmed.

It would be nice if this was fixed in time for the gutsy release, I know it has worked in previous versions. If one attempts to use the tab key, your password will be displayed in the username field, legible for anyone around you.

The bug is not likely to be fixed for gutsy, that's a minor issue and there is lot of bug that requires work

Just another comment to say that it would be nice if this was fixed to provide compatibility with both Debian releases and previous Ubuntu releases.

@Sebastien: I don't think the plausibility to accidentally reveal your password is really "a minor issue"...?

(Other bugs might be more important, but IMHO it's not "minor".)

Discussing the settings will not make the bug fixed faster, that's not a security issue if you type your password in random occasion without looking on screen where your cursor is, that's annoying bug though, agreed
