Bug Description

Using up to date Hardy, ff3 crashes on most times I view http://icanhascheezburger.com. If it doesn't crash on the first page, click "next" a few times and eventually it will.

matt@Aluminumy:~$ /usr/lib/firefox-3.0b3/firefox
gecko: Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :1.0.

In .xsession-errors, I get:
Launched application : 18868
The application 'gecko' lost its connection to the display :1.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application.
Launched application : 20332
gecko: Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :1.0.

I had a bit of a breakthrough. Because of the current breakage with gnome-settings-daemon, my GTK theme and metacity/compiz theme are currently defaulting to some nonstandard values. However, ff3 no longer crashes with these default themes.

After gnome-settings-daemon is fixed and I can play around with the themes, I'll see if I can characterize just which themes cause the the crash and which don't.

Also, ff3b4 seems to have this fixed permanently -- even with complex gtk theme turned on. I think this bug can be closed.

Just a hunch, but looking at the comments in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=707041 it seems that some people don't see the problem and some do. I noticed that one of the people saying they don't see it is running the 32 bit version (i686). I do see the problem and I'm running the 64 bit version (x86_64). Might be a 64-bit only problem?
