from what i understand is that you upgraded from ubuntu gutsy to ubuntu hardy and firebird failed to remove itself

could you give me more info ?

also you must know that libfbclient.so symlink must be created so the lazarus components to be used

in my case i use firebird2.1 for example

ln -s /usr/lib/libfbclient.so.2.1.0 /usr/lib/libfbclient.so

i tested it with firebird 2.1

on firebird 2.0.3 you should do this symlink

 ln -s /usr/lib/libfbclient.so.2.0.3 /usr/lib/libfbclient.so

Creating symlinks by hand is certainly not needed.

Just install the firebird2.0-dev package -- it contains the necessary symlink.
