Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

As seen in bug #465681, the Applications menu entry for Evolution does not go away unless evolution-common is removed, and removing Evolution in Ubuntu Software Center doesn't remove evolution-common.

This would be confusing for most people.

I removed Evolution since the problem is not on evolution-common but on the package that recommends or depends on it.

evolution-common still is built from the evolution source package, so that was the proper place. Please don't change it.

affects: ubuntu → evolution (Ubuntu)

Hi Jonathan,
The software responsible for the removal of other packages is APT, not evolution.
If it is not being removed that's because either another package still recomends/depends on it or because it comes flagged as manually installed in the standard Ubuntu CD.
In neither case the problem is with the evolution package.

Bug #692791 has been reported that highlights the fact that evolution-common isn't the only Evolution-related package that is being left behind after uninstallation.
