Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

It would be extremely useful to enable recording of audio and video calls and even better if it could be integrated with empathy's chat logs

After reading a Google Summer of Code project here (http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/wiki/JokosherTelepathy) i realized that this could be done using Jokosher and PiTiVi

I believe a record button in Empathy (as the linked gnome bug suggests) is entirely different than the telepathy integration in Jokosher (as described for the summer of code project). I can see that if Jokosher gets this working well and empathy doesn't fix their bug then you could work around it by recording from Jokosher. But they are really two separate things.

I would prefer separate bugs for all these projects. Although I can only speak for Jokosher myself.

I'd really like to see this feature neatly integrated into empathy, with options to enable and configure conversation recording included in empathy's preferences.
