Bug Description

  Installeret: 3.5.1-0ubuntu2
  Kandidat: 3.5.1-0ubuntu2

I try to write code in eclipse, but it crashes. Here is one way to reproduce the error:
1.start eclipse,
2.ind a spot in the code, where there is supposed to be "intellisense",
3.hit ctrl+space to view the suggestions.

After crash i got the following out put from the terminal:

Hi

I suspect this is caused by a previous version of eclipse unpacking libswt into your ~/.eclipse. Please remove/rename this folder and try again.

Thank you in advance,
~Niels

Hi Niels,

I renamed ~/.eclipse, but i did not solve the problem, it still crashes.

Note it is on a newly installed 9.10 beta, not an update from 9.04 everything installed from the ubuntu - repos.

Hi

According to your original log, you have two different versions of xulrunner on your system and eclipse apparently found "one of each" (some of the old and some of the new xulrunner). Could you try uninstalling xulrunner-1.9 (assuming you can do it without apt taking half of your system with it)? alternatively you may be able to convince your system to only use 1.9.1

The other solution is to upgrade to eclipse 3.5.1-0ubuntu5, which uses xulrunner 1.9.1 explicitly.

Thank you Niels, that was the the problem...

I was a bit curious about how i got two versions of xulrunner on a almost completly clean system. But it turs out that it was the aplication "chmsee" which required xulrunner-1.9. So I have to live without that.

But thank you very much... again.

I just ran into this issue on an update of xulrunner today (1.9.1.5). i forced the previous version in synaptic but it still didn't help. I do notice i have two versions of xulrunner 1.9 and 1.9.1. Firefox requires 1.9 though so i removed 1.9.1 completely and its working!

I had the same problem today with Ubuntu 10.04, Eclipse 3.5.2 and xulrunner 1.9.1 and 1.9.2.

After removing xulrunner 1.9.1 the problem was solved.

Thanks a lot for your help (worked with Remy and Niels Thykier comments.)
