Related to bug 188075, there should be a option (say --debian) that disables all ubuntu versioning logic etc in dch.

The next dpkg-dev will allow this with it's vendor handling. It will be an environment variable
rather than an option, but will have the desired effect.

James

Which version will this come in and what where will it be documented? (dch's manpage?)

The upcoming devscripts 2.11.8 will have a --vendor option. All Ubuntu version logic will be disabled if "--vendor Debian" is provided. Other ways to achieve it is to set DEBCHANGE_VENDOR or DEB_VENDOR to Debian. It is documented in the man pages of debchange and dpkg-vendor.
